i LOVE THIS BOOK
I love this book. It has charm. It has heart. It has fantasy. It has humor. It has sex. It’s schmaltzy! And it’s also absurd. I think it’s perfect for anyone. It has a great soul and great imagination. He comes at things from a very different and a very humorous angle in this book of delightful short stories. I think it’s terrific. Morrie is a wonderful writer, but I didn’t know he was this good. Buy this book before everyone else does!

A MASTER OF THE SHORT STORY
Morrie Ruvinsky's "The Heart and Other Strangers" is a masterfully executed collection of short fiction. Injecting layer upon layer of texture and meaning into every tale, Ruvinsky writes that rarest of animals, literature. Human beings dwell in these pages, complete with their desires, foibles, and complexities. Often funny, just as often poignant AND funny, reading "The Heart and Other Strangers" is a trip down Irony Lane that never strains credulity -- unless that happens to be the point. Ruvinsky is a knowing and wise guide through the ventricles and auricles of the human condition. Enjoy the ride.

NOT TO BE MISSED
Have been a fan of Ruvinsky's writing for many years...His short stories are written in a wonderful voice that is warm, funny and can go direct to the heart or soul depending on which he is aiming for. Not to be missed!!

STORIES TO DREAM WITH
Those who know Morrie Ruvinsky's previous literary works will be thrilled by the way the Heart and Other Strangers extends his narrative reach. He tells stories with deceptive simplicity. One twist after another takes you to the heart of things, the dark corners of human need, the vast plains of human longing, the mountain tops of human goodness. In a few short pages, with swift prose that sinks beneath your skin without announcing itself, he makes you fall in love with love in all its forms all over again. While all the stories are well made, in my opinion "The Letters" is a nearly perfect rendering of the complexities of family life in a time of crisis, a beautiful, stripped-down story without a single extraneous word or description which lives on in the mind long after the last page is turned. I've compared Morrie Ruvinsky's stories to those of other good writers in previous reviews. From this point forward good writers will be measured against his achievements here.

BOTH PLEASURE AND PAIN
A great collection.
Humorous and Serious in almost equal measure.
Ruvinsky's voice rings so clear and so authentic throughout that the stories end up creating one world.
Takes one to its world completely.
The stories are earthy but, Heaven and Hell are ever present.
I recommend this collection to anyone needing an original and satisfying read.

A MOST DELIGHTFUL READING TO IMPART DELICIOUS THOUGHTS.
It was so much fun reading, and visualizing the easy to grasp wonderful/thoughtful/sometimes familiar thoughts in the latest Morrie Ruvinsky book, that I bought 5 more books to give to friends. Each story, even when delving into a serious subject or situation, has funny things in it, which is one of the reasons I say it is "a most delightful reading." In addition, Ruvinisky's writing style is so easy going, so fluid, it is so well written, you get it on the first read. The philosophy of a thoughtful, searching, intelligent mind. Thank you Mr. Ruvinsky.

A MAN WHO REALLY UNDERSTANDS
Morrie is a man who really understands the inner mythologies humanity has in common across society. He really explores the questions and connections that drive us. I highly recommend his new book of short stories.

IF YOU LOVE SHORT STORIES DON'T MISS THIS ONE!
Mr. Ruvinsky's breezy style and easy dialogue belie the poignant depth of each tale.
He has fashioned his own literary genre: sci-fi and romance merge and comprise a satisfying
read.

A WONDERFUL COLLECTION OF SHORT STORIES
Ruvinsky's short stories are original, ironic, humorous, touching and sometimes quirky. But most of all they are always entertaining. The Heart and Other Strangers is a delightful read. Most highly recommended.
Allan Flanz
Morrie Ruvinsky has a unique talent to create unusual and interesting worlds with very few words. Only someone with his instinct could create a store selling placebos and make it seem a most natural thing. As with all of his previous works his dry wit comes shining through.

Thank You
Thank you, Mr. Ruvinsky, for your masterful prose style. Neither streamlined nor dumbed down, it is wryly witty, and a delight to read aloud. Your stories tease and twist, and thank you for the surprises. I look forward to reading your forthcoming novel A Father's Son
